The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, has facilitated an initial engagement meeting between Oko-Oba Clean Energy Limited and the State’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Office as part of ongoing efforts to promote clean, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions across the State.
The meeting, held at the Ministry, marked the first formal introduction of Oko-Oba Clean Energy Limited to the Lagos State PPP framework.
The Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Biodun Ogunleye received the Oko-Oba Clean Energy Ltd delegation and formally handed them over to the PPP team for guidance on the processes, requirements, and approval pathways for project development under a PPP arrangement.
Also present at the meeting was the Special Adviser to the Governor on Climate Change and Circular Economy, Mrs. Titilayo Oshodi, whose participation underscored the relevance of the proposed initiative to Lagos State’s climate action, sustainability, and circular economy objectives.
During the meeting, a member of the Oko-Oba Clean Energy team briefly provided an overview of the proposed Oko-Oba Hybrid Clean Energy Project. He outlined the project concept, which combines solar photovoltaic power, battery energy storage, and biogas-to-power generation using abattoir waste, subject to regulatory approvals and detailed project evaluation
The Honourable Commissioner emphasised that the engagement was preliminary and exploratory, noting that the purpose of the meeting was not a formal project presentation but to acquaint the project proponents with the PPP expectations and institutional roles ahead of any formal submissions.
This introductory engagement represents an important first step towards the potential development of the Oko-Oba Hybrid Clean Energy Project and reinforces Lagos State’s commitment to encouraging credible private-sector participation in clean energy, waste-to-energy solutions, and sustainable infrastructure development in Lagos State.
